Who ever thought you could make homemade donuts that are easy AND taste amazing? Well today we are making what may seem impossible, VERY, EASILY possible. We are here to make your donut dreams come true. These donuts taste like they came straight from your favorite bakery, but instead, you can make these biscuit based donuts at home in less than 30 minutes.
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1 can Buttermilk Biscuits (we use Pillsbury Grand Buttermilk Biscuits)
- Peanut Oil, for frying
- Donut toppings of your choosing - Cinnamon Sugar, Glaze, Powder, Sprinkles, Icing etc.
- Pot for frying
- Paper towels for absorbing oil
-
In a shallow bowl, stir together the ground cinnamon and sugar and set aside.
-
Heat 2 inches peanut oil in a large pot to 350 degrees F. (Kitchen hack video included below for instructions to measure temperature without a thermometer)
-
To make donut holes, cut the biscuts into quarters and roll into small balls. If you are making full donuts, lay out the biscuits on a cutting board and with a small (about 1") round cookie cutter, cut out a hole from the middle of each biscuit.
-
Gently place donuts in oil and fry them in the oil until golden (about 2 minutes). Keep an eye on them and flip so they are browned evenly.
-
Drain on paper towels and whlie they are still warm, toss in your choice of topping. Cinnamon sugar mixture, powder, or use icing and decorate with sprinkles, toffee bits, peanut butter chips etc.
