The easiest banana bread recipe, ever, seriously! We've made many versions of banana bread from scratch and they are VERY comparable to this extremely easy, 5 ingredient banana bread made from cake mix.  Once we realized that the base of all our banana bread recipes was really like cake batter, we started using a box cake mix to make this SIMPLY HOMEMADE, and SO easy. Based on your taste preference, you can add an extra mashed banana if you want a stronger banana flavor.  You can also add your favorite mix-ins, like nuts or cinnamon!

We also included instructions below if you want to freeze this bread for future use.  You can even freeze slices of a half loaf if you don't feel like finishing it all at once.

EASY Chocolate Chip Banana Bread (5 ingredients)
Ingredients
  • 1 Box Yellow cake mix
  • 1/3 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 1/2 Cups Mashed Ripe Bananas (2-3 large)
  • 1/2 Cup Mini Chocolate Chips
Cooking Things:
  • Loaf Pan
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • If freezing, you will need aluminum foil, gallon sized freezer bag or plastic wrap.
Instructions
To prepare and serve immediately
  1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease loaf pan with non stick cooking spray.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine cake mix, mashed bananas, oil, and eggs. Gently stir in chocolate chips.

  3. Add mixture to greased loaf pan and bake 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

  4. Let cool completely before slicing.

To prepare and freeze for future
  1. To freeze banana bread for future use, let it cool completely (about 2 hours) and wrap in aluminum foil and place in a plastic zip top bag.

  2. Defrosting instructions option 1: Leave on counter to defrost (usually will take about 5 hours). We suggest defrosting overnight.

  3. Defrosting instructions option 2: Remove from zip top bag. Keep aluminum foil wrap on and place it directly on the rack of your oven and cook at 350 for 60 minutes or until warmed all the way through.
