This is a summer recipe you don't want to skip! Our fruit tart is made quickly and easily, yet it is SO flavorful and delicious. We find that most fruit tart recipes call for homemade pie crust, which ends up taking over an hour for prep and cook so we're cutting out that time by using a store bought crust, leaving you more time to spend with your family and friends. And here's our little secret *we've tested both (homemade and store-bought) and people don't always know the difference*. Our fruit tart pictured here is being used for Memorial Day, hence the American Flag and although this truly is a beautiful Patriotic Pie, we encourage you to be brave and creative when finding fruit toppings - we say the more color the better! Enjoy

Servings: 8
Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 Cup Milk (or half and half)
  • 2/3 Cup White Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Cornstarch
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 4 Egg yolks
  • 2 TBSP Butter, unsalted
  • 1 1/2 TSP Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Frozen or Refrigerated Pie Crust (we used Pillsbury frozen pie crust)
  • Fruit Toppings for Pie! (we say the more colors the better! OR pick fruit colors for specific holiday theme)
Cooking things:
  • Blender
Instructions
  1. If using a frozen pie crust, bake pie crust as instructed on the package. We used Pillsbury frozen pie crust, which baked for 9 minutes at 400 degrees.

  2. Place items in blender (in order listed): Milk, sugar, cornstarch, salt and egg yolks. Blend 5-10 seconds

  3. Pour mixture into 2 qt glass bowl and microwave for 7 minutes. Whisk about half way through until smooth. While the mixture is heating up, it's a perfect time to start slicing your fruit for topping.

  4. Add butter and vanilla, stir until combined.

  5. Pour mixture into baked pie crust and add fruit topping! Voila!
